How to Get a Digital Nomad Visa in Bali (2025 Guide)
Everything you need to know about Indonesia's E33G visa: eligibility, documents, processing time, and how to activate it in Bali.
The E33G Digital Nomad Visa is Indonesia's answer to the global rise of remote work. Launched in 2023 and updated in 2025, it allows foreign nationals who work remotely for overseas companies to live in Bali for up to five years, completely tax-free.
Who is eligible?
To qualify, you must be employed by or own a company based outside of Indonesia, and earn a minimum monthly income of approximately USD 2,000–3,500 (the threshold varies by interpretation). You must not work for any Indonesian company or earn Indonesian-sourced income.
Documents required
- Valid passport (min. 18 months validity)
- Proof of remote employment or business ownership
- 3 months of bank statements
- Tax return or equivalent from home country
- Health insurance valid in Indonesia
- Cover letter explaining remote work setup
How to apply
The E33G is applied for through the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration. Unlike some visas, it currently requires in-country activation — meaning you typically enter on a tourist visa or VoA first, then convert or activate the E33G at the local immigration office.
Processing typically takes 2–4 weeks from the time of submission, assuming documents are complete.
Is it worth it?
If you plan to stay in Bali longer than a few months and want a stable, legally sound option, yes — absolutely. The five-year validity, multiple-entry access, and tax exemption make it one of the best digital nomad visas in Southeast Asia.
